Summer in Carson Valley abounds with entertainment options

A special reception for a show featuring the paintings of Charles Munroe and the photographic work of Nancy Raven is noon-2 p.m. Saturday at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center. Both honor the Washoe Tribe and neighboring tribal elders. Munroe returns to the museum not only with his painted gourds (shown at the 2015 exhibit) but has added a new selection of paintings made as a tribute to Washoe elders. Raven, an experienced photographer, also brings her collection of tribal portraits to share with the community. The exhibit runs throughout the summer. The Douglas County Historical Society will host a reception to meet the artists Saturday at the museum, located at 1477 Highway 395 in Gardnerville. Light refreshments and free admission. Visit HistoricNV.org or call 782-2555 for details.
